Coffee stop
This is luxury! The hotel Burguete has WIFI and I can use the iPhone to update the blog. Thanks to Kit, Mo's sister in law, who we met in St Jean, I now know my way round using the phone without running up bills. I have 'data roaming' off and can type off liine, sending the info to the blog only when I've got access to someone else's WIFI. This looks as if it is going to be much easier in Spain. But the problem is that I am in danger of becoming an antisocial iPhone nerd being fixed to the screen in every cafe, bar or hotel that we end up in.
Last night we had our first Spanish meal at the hotel Loixu with our 2 Australian friends that we first met at Orisson, Jo and Sharon. They both have iPhones too so were thrilled when they realised they could catch up with their emails by using the hotel's WiFi so that was three of us at the dinner table tapping away while Mo, Richard an Pam planned today's route. We did manage to eventually put them away and enjoy dinner and conversation. The menu was a pilgrim special for €10, soup or beans, trout or stuffed peppers and icecream.
We discussed politics in Britain and Australia and I've just remembered the election results should be out so I'll sign out to have a look at who is now running the country.
18.45pm I gather its a hung parliament but I'm really pleased that Caroline Lucas got in in Brighton - the first Green MP! - a milestone indeed.
We've had a wonderful day's walking and we are now in Zubiri in a bar where the senor has insisted I use his laptop cos I cant get onto his WiFi - so feel duty bound to use it! We are having a bottle of Rioja and olives before going back to our sooper dooper modern hostel for the evening meal. Everyone´s bearing up well - Richard and Pam are well fit - so no problems there. Lots of other pilgrims on route many of them not your usual walking types so there's lots of limping about.
