green. Left the vines of Rioja which were replaced by fields of wheat,
rye, potatoes and peas ( or some sort of legume).
We made a slight detour at lunchtime recommended in Gerda's German
book and had a long Spanish lunch at a local bar off the pilgrim
route. First course was 'alubias rohos' red beans with chorizo an
black pudding. Delicious - must rember that one.
Refuge 'Casa del Santo' is A - mazing indeed! Brand new and like a
posh hotel for communal living.
