Day 4 Zubiri - Pamploma

We´ve collected Bernt (Swedish) en route who has the most enormous blisters on his heels - rather the holes left by the blisters. Richard has given him all his moleskin plasters as apparently Compeed has been useless.

We are in the hostel Jesus y Maria in Pamploma and waiting for the drier to finish. We got VERY muddy today so everything has gone in. There are about 150 beds here all in rows but cubicled off in sixes. Should be OK. Richard and Pam have gone off to the bus station to enquire about buses to Bilbao tomorrow and they are supposed to flying back to England on Monday. BUT there is more volcano dust and no planes are flying. WE are gutted that Derek was supposed to join us tonight and he got to Stansted to find that all flights to Spain have been cancelled.

Mo, Bernt and I are are going to meet up with Richard and Pam soon and we are going for racciones of something very nice I hope. Just had a very quick walk through some of Pamplona and hope to see more of it tomorrow. We plan to have a semi rest day tomorrow. I want to have a proper, massive, family style, long Sunday lunch like the Spaniards do. And then we will walk about 5km to the other side of town ready to start walking to Puenta del Reina on Monday. Bernt will take a taxi (and our bags) to the next hostel (Cizor Minor) - he musnt walk yet, desperately needs a day off to let new skin form over his holes.

Loads of pilgrims in dire straits - lots of limping going on. People setting off in new boots, doing too much too quickly. Met one guy on route who couldnt walk any more and there was a doctor cycling the route who examined him. He has to stop and take 2400mg ibubrofen!!!
